Gretchen E. Seitz, L.Ac.
Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Gretchen
graduated magna cum laude from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine
in San Diego, CA. Licensed by the National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (Dipl.Ac., Dipl.OM.), as well as the
California State Acupuncture Board (L.Ac.), she has been in private
practice in the Banker’s Hill area of San Diego since 2002.
The
focus of her practice is on gentle and profoundly effective acupuncture
techniques. She continues to develop her ability through the study of
the time-honored techniques taught by the renowned Japanese master,
Ikeda Masakazu Sensei.
Although she was born in Rochester, New York, Gretchen spent her
formative years in England and Japan, as well as the U.S. This exposure
to cultures outside the U.S. afforded Gretchen the opportunity to
develop an awareness of various spiritual, cultural and philosophical
ideologies at a very young age.
After
obtaining her undergraduate degree in Asian Studies and Japanese
language at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Upstate New York, she
and her husband moved to San Diego, where she obtained her master’s
degree in Oriental Medicine.
Gretchen is a doctoral fellow at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where she continues her study of traditional medicine and evidence based research. Her advanced studies are to be completed in 2011.
Outside
of her practice Gretchen is an avid reader who continues to study and
broaden her knowledge of the classic Chinese medical texts. She also
enjoys growing orchids and relaxing with her husband and their dog
Jack.
Gretchen is a member of the American Acupuncture Council, and the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
